AI in the finance function: from experimentation to value

The challenge
ACCA Zimbabwe wanted its Annual Members Conference (July 2026) to move beyond AI hype and give finance professionals a clear, evidence-based view of AI's impact and how to turn adoption into measurable value.
Our approach
Berachah Global delivered the keynote “Driving strategic transformation and value creation in the finance function”, presenting an evidence-based five-part pathway from AI adoption to value. 1. The imperative. Why AI matters now for Africa and finance, including market growth, digital strengths, infrastructure constraints and the risks of delay. 2. The agentic shift. How finance is moving from automation to AI agents, with leadership increasingly defined by effective orchestration. 3. The proof. Verified banking case studies and the six common causes of AI failure. 4. The playbook. A three-phase, 24-month roadmap supported by 17 KPIs, an ROI formula and shared data definitions. 5. People and change. Evidence-based practices for role redesign, visible leadership and psychological safety, the foundations of most AI value.
The results
Delegates left with tools they could use straight away rather than a general awareness of AI: • a phased roadmap they could adapt to their own organisation • a KPI dictionary and ROI formula they could take to their boards • a checklist of failure modes to avoid • a people-and-change agenda written for African finance teams The session gave ACCA members a shared vocabulary and a sequenced plan for AI transformation in the finance function.
